  1. It it normal that 4 days before a tray change for teeth that weren’t achy now become achy?
I change my tray the day after Thanksgiving and suddenly I have a dull ache in a tooth that barely ached. I use my chewie so my trays fit pefect.
So is it normal for different teeth to ache 10/11 days into the same tray?

    1. It’s not common but could happen if some teeth move into position, which seats the aligner better and thereby puts more pressure on other teeth.

  2. Thank you Dr. for the information! I just started Invisalign and the company stated on my take home kit that I shouldn’t use denture cleaner for Invisalign aligners. However, off of your recommendation and other orthos, I ordered retainer brite to clean my Invisalign aligners. Is retainer brite safe to use and why does Invisalign recommend against it? There is so much mixed information on the internet.

    1. Glad it was helpful. I’m not sure why Align Tech (maker of Invisalign) said to not use anything else besides their own crystal cleaners. Maybe it’s because they haven’t tested any other brands or maybe they want to increase their revenue by selling their own cleaning crystals. For aligners that you only use for 1-2 weeks, I’m not sure if it’s worth it to spend the extra money on the Invisalign brand of cleaners. Here’s a published article for you to decide for yourself what best to do: https://head-face-med.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13005-020-00218-2

    2. @TrayMinder
What a helpful article!! Thank you!! It’s nice to know that if I were to drink black tea here and there with my aligners in that Retainer Brite will clean that away (but I’ll definitely avoid coffee or red wine!).

  3. Just started this last week on day four. I’m having an issue where the bottom front teeth have attachments and they are rubbing my lower lip when I have the trays off to eat. So, I am wondering what can I do to stop the pain when my lower lip moves to eat it hits the attachment and it is painful. All I can do is pull out my lower lip and chew. This is not very fun.

    1. Sorry to hear that. Have you tried ortho wax? Contact your treating doctor for their advice.

  4. Hi Dr. Bailey! Thank you so much for your tips. I’ve been watching your videos all afternoon ( New Subscriber by the way). You will be the Dr. between my real Dr. during this journey. Thank you again for taking your time and posting these videos for folks like me who left the Dr.’s office and still don’t’ have a clue lol.. (this is why YouTube is the goat lol)

  5. I am getting my invisalign tomorrow and this video was super helpful!! Thank you!

    1. That’s great to hear! Thanks for taking the time to write a comment – it really helps others to find this channel. Good luck with your treatment.

  6. Is it common to remove teeth for Invisalign if there is crowding? I had 4 removed.

    1. Good question. It depends on the amount of crowding, the bite, soft tissue profile, and proclination of teeth, etc.

  7. Started Invisalign 4 days ago and your app is so helpful. Your videos are so informative as well. Thank you for answering my questions through them.

  8. Dr Bailey, I find your videos tremendously helpful and valuable. Quick question: is it safe to keep aligners on for ~16-18 hours at a time? Or do I need to take them off every 8 hours or so to clean teeth and aligners?

    1. Thank you for for the nice comment. As long as your teeth and the aligners are clean, it should be fine. You wouldn’t want to drink or eat with them on (except water).

  9. I need a dentist bad I’m at 64 and my teeth are in freaking shape but not real good please get please get back to me when you can Brian Brian with a y

    1. The best way to find a dentist is to get the recommendation from friends, family and coworkers in your local area. Wishing you the best of luck with your search.

  10. I got the same denture tabs at Target. I change every 7 days, 16 week total treatment. I had metal braces as a kid but never wore the retainer after the fact. My teeth started to shift back. Lesson learned.

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience and good luck with your treatment. It sounds like it’s not too long so that’s great.
